A Morning Downtown

Autumn and I went downtown for a bit this morning and we were met by a surprise. I guess it was the lilac festival and we caught then end of the parade along with a few other things.

A lady gave Autumn a balloon that she had her eye on. How nice!

Unfortunately, here she's taking it off her wrist and away flew the balloon! She was very upset about it. She cried to her daddy about it first thing when we got home.
Ah, the radio flier slide. She tried to go down on her stomach. I told her to sit on her butt and the kids behind her got impatient waiting for her to turn around.

She LOVES chasing the seagulls! I had a hard time getting a good shot with her running and the birds flying altogether, but this one is still pretty good.

The clock tower downtown.

We had to take a ride on the 100 year old carousel. That thing is fast! That's the main reason we went downtown in the first place. It just worked out that it ended up being a nice day.

I have no idea what this lady was on about. I wasn't listening.

Haha. She was intimidated by the giant fountain.

We got to pet the police department's horse. He was huge!

Autumns favorite part of the parade. She loves drums!

Racing Day!!

Bloomsday is HUGE in Spokane. I think it's the countries largest timed foot race and guess what...it comes right in front of my house!! So we had to move our cars and all we had to do was step right outside our door to see the action that people travel hundreds of miles to participate in. The race started at 9am. They first go up Doomsday Hill, then turn to come down my street, so by the time they get here they're already tired out, but I'm sure they're glad for the even leveled street. First came the wheelchairs (above). Every now and then the police would come and clear the way for the next wave.

Then came the professional, VERY fast runners.
Here's Autumn looking on!
And the family all bundled up in front of my house. After a while we had to move back into the yard because the runners were starting to spit and spray, and even run on the sidewalks to bypass others.
Here come the fairly fast and in pretty good shape guys.
The the fun gets a little more crowded and a little goofier.
Gonzaga..Army ROTC??
And these two ladies took advantage of the crowds to show their support for legalizing marajuana. Some young kid terrorized these poor gals with water guns and screaming "Obama Sucks!"
Autumn liked "the colors"
